Electric Service
The incorporated cities (Bowling Green, Louisiana, and Clarksville) are served by Ameren UE Company. Ameren UE can be described as business- friendly, energy-- plentiful,
reliable and stable. Ameren UE Company provides a 15% discount for the first 5 years to new or existing companies who either commence operations or increase their demand load by at least 200 KW. After the fifth year the normal rate structure resumes.
The average retail electric rate charged by the Ameren regulated utility companies are significantly below the national average rates of other investor-owned utilities, according to rate survey data contained in the Typical Bill and Average
Rates Report published by
the Edison Electric Institute. Ameren UE has reduced rates four times since the early 1990's- most recently in 2002, with the first of a three-phase $110 million reduction in Missouri. Ameren UE's overall electric rates are currently 20 percent below the national average.
The rural areas of Pike County are serviced by Cuivre River Electric Cooperative and Ralls Co. Electric Cooperative. The Rural Electric Cooperatives also have incentives available to help businesses who are serviced by them.
Natural Gas Service
Ameren UE Company and
Atmos Gas serve the incorporated cities of Bowling Green, Louisiana, and Clarksville. Propane gas is
available in the Rural areas of Pike County. Also available to companies looking at sites in Bowling Green and Louisiana, is the ANR Pipeline. The pipeline lays just north of both cities.
